One-Day Seminar on the Preventive System of Don Bosco, Chennai Region
A one-day seminar was organised for all the newly recruited teachers of the Chennai Region at Don Bosco, Egmore. The seminar focused on the theme “The Preventive System of Don Bosco”, introducing the participants to the educational vision and pedagogical approach of Don Bosco. The programme aimed to help the newly recruited teachers understand the relevance of the Preventive System in today’s educational context.
The sessions highlighted the three fundamental pillars of the system: Reason, Religion, and Loving-Kindness and their practical application in the classroom. The teachers were encouraged to build positive relationships with students through understanding, accompaniment, guidance, and personal care. The seminar also emphasised the importance of creating a joyful, welcoming, disciplined, and student-friendly learning environment. Through reflections, discussions, and interactive activities, the participants explored practical ways of incorporating the Salesian spirit into their teaching practices. The programme enabled the newly recruited teachers to recognise their role not only as educators but also as mentors, role models, and companions to young people. The seminar concluded with a renewed commitment to making the Preventive System a meaningful and living educational practice in their respective institutions.
